Meet Phoebe Fontaine

Phoebe Fontaine is the "first call" her friends make for help when planning everything from dinners for the boss to spontaneous get-togethers. The 35-year-old has been practicing the art of entertaining since an early age. She spent most of her childhood planning and hosting elaborate doll parties for her neighborhood friends in her hometown of Shawnee Mission, Kansas.
She graduated on to more sophisticated affairs during her college years in New York City, where the high cost of food, clothing and decent stemware taught Phoebe Fontaine valuable lessons in how to be a savvy and stylish hostess without breaking the bank. Planning parties for her eclectic group of friends challenged and inspired her to combine style and substance. Her parties and dinners during this period were memorable for their diverse mix and effortless charm. It was here that she discovered Vanity Fair® napkins. Their velvety softness and snowy whiteness have provided an extra special touch to every occasion and non-occasion Phoebe Fontaine hosted ever since.
Her gift for hostessing evolved naturally into an event planning career. Seating arrangements were on her mind when she caught the eye of her future husband Mack, a part-time bass player and historic home preservationist. Mack was a Tarheel from the South. He was a gentleman and a rogue, a combination that suited Phoebe Fontaine just fine. The two married and moved to Charlotte where they now have two children: 9-year-old Lola and 6-year-old Nicholas.
Phoebe Fontaine believes that sitting down for a meal with family and friends isn't always a luxury - it's a necessity. Nurturing and being nurtured are important aspects of her philosophy and she thinks adding small touches like Vanity Fair® napkins help strengthen emotional connections. Although she has a traditional family, Phoebe Fontaine feels that families of all kinds should be celebrated. The cast of characters may change from household to household, but the importance of taking time out to share food and conversation doesn't change.
